About Us

New England Linen is a fourth generation family-owned business that has been providing complete linen and uniform rental service to faithful customers for over 100 years.

In 1886, John W. Richardson and his wife, Ethel, opened a small laundry on Potter Street in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. House-to-house laundry service by horse-drawn carriage was a way of life in those days. Soon the Richardson's were providing towels, aprons and bars of soap to office and factory workers in the local textile mills. Hiring a driver and expanding their line of rental products helped them outgrow their original location, and they moved to 20 Rhode Island Avenue where the business still operates today. With the help of their two sons, Merrill and John, Jr., the Richardson's business continued to thrive despite a fire in 1910 and the Great Depression.

Today, a fourth generation of Richardson sons continues to bring new ideas and a fresh perspective to a business that was built on the time-honored tradition of hard work and old-fashioned family values.
